Commercial Space Systems A2100: Flight-Proven Performance for 21st Century Telecommunications “The A2100 is truly a quality product providing cost efficiencies, higher reliability and greater payload capability than any other comparable satellite currently flying.” — CEO, GE Americom Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems is at the forefront of the space-based telecommunications revolution. Leading the way is our A2100, one of the most powerful flight-proven commercial spacecraft currently available. With a modular design and a minimum design life of 15 years, this geosynchronous satellite with flexible payload capacity is ideally suited to meet the demand for commercial space systems well into the 21st century—a demand driven by growth in mobile telephony, business services, direct broadcast, Internet, multimedia and broadband services. Built for performance and versatility. The A2100 design is highly modular at the subsystem and component level, and our broad inventory of fully qualified standard components ensures a spacecraft “configured to order” without costly reengineering. The A2100 design also features a major reduction in parts—simplifying construction, increasing on-orbit reliability and reducing weight and cost. Lightweight all-composite materials increase strength, minimize thermal distortions and reduce launch costs.
Manufacture of A2100 spacecraft occurs in the Lockheed Martin Commercial Satellite Center. With co-located assembly and test facilities, the center was specifically designed to dramatically cut A2100 production cycles, and it has achieved this goal. Widely accepted. Commercial Space Systems builds the A2100 for customers including GE Americom, EchoStar Communications Corporation, Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS) International, China Orient Telecomm Satellite Co. Ltd. of Beijing, PT Telkomunikasi (TELKOM) of Indonesia, Telesat Canada, Lockheed Martin Intersputnik, Japan Satellite Systems Inc. and Space Communications Corporation, Korea Telecom, Astrolink LLC and Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications. Heir to innovation. The A2100 is the culmination of 40 years of Lockheed Martin investment in innovation. Since Satcom 1, the first 3-axis stabilized satellite, we have built and launched more than 135 commercial communications satellites that have delivered nearly 1,100 years of on-orbit operation. In the future, broadband ventures such as Astrolink LLC will use A2100 satellites to provide advanced services such as video on demand, video teleconferencing, telemedicine, highspeed Internet access and multimedia services. Technologies for Mission Success Our mission is your success. Our A2100 series of satellites offers increased capacity, versatile coverage and power configurations, longer lifetimes and lower overall cost per transponder. And we continue to invest in enabling technologies such as high-density electronics, advanced propulsion systems and antenna arrays to increase onboard processing capability, capture orbital efficiencies and reduce launch costs—further enhancing your ability to react to the changing demands of your customers. Multiple Launch Vehicle Compatibility The A2100 is compatible with Atlas IIAS, Proton, Delta, Sea Launch, Ariane 4 and 5, HIIA and Long March 3B. This versatility ensures that A2100-based spacecraft can be placed in orbit on schedule. Reliability: Our First Priority
